ABOUT T'N'T HOBBIES
Past and the future.
HOME

T'N'T Hobbies was started in 1993 due to a price gouging local hobby store owner who soon went out of business. It's one thing to pay full retail for an item. I expect to at a hobby shop. But not 20% or more on top of the price for stuff he had to order for me. I only found that fact out when I started checking suppliers to start T'N'T Hobbies. This guy was also a friend of mine!

So I opened Only Race Cars/ T'N'T Hobbies. It started small and at one time literally owned the resin kit and foreign item marketplace. As years went by competitors dropped like flies. To be honest they are still dropping like flies today. Not just because of T'N'T being successful, but because I believe the owners didn't realize how much work it took. Most thought they could get stuff for themselves and their friends or their club cheaper and hopefully make some money. But when you start to become even a little successful you get BUSY! Too busy to build dozens of kits a year and make money.

Ebay! I really don't like Ebay. But many customers insist on buying kits through Ebay instead of the website. You pay higher shipping costs through Ebay. Unfortunately it looks to be here to stay or until upper management screws up.

So what direction is T'N'T headed? My goal is to recapture the past. Once again own the resin and foreign import market. It won't happen over night but it will happen. This way the best kits along with the best prices are available to my customers. Along with my charming personality. Hey, I'm not kidding! Just ask my customers who I talk to for long periods either before or after they order. My wife has never understood it. But it's the coolest part of the business. Talking about race cars and racing. Sometimes just a mutual therapy session.

FAQ'S
I AM NOT PERFECT!
I try to be but often fail, I try not to forget anything but I do, but I try and I will keep trying! So stop bugging me!

So why does it take so long to get items I pre-order ?
Well to start with I need to have a decent amount of kits to offset the very high shipping charges. I prefer a minimum 10-12 kits. For Example: Ace/Wolf resin F1 kits from Brazil. First they email to announce the releases. I take orders for at least a month, sometimes longer. When they announce the kits are ready they now need numbers. I tell them what I need plus a few extras. They now invoice me. I now transfer the payment. After the payment is confirmed I'm told the kits will ship in 7 days. After they are shipped it's another 3-4 days. Now I have to pack them and ship them, another 1-3 days. Studio 27 on the other hand will hold kits up to 2 weeks max. So I can't place an order until I have enough kits to order. Exceptions are made if some of the pre-ordered kits show low stock.

You used to stock a lot of kits. What happened?
With F1 resin kits wholesale pricing at around $115+ each it's impractical but it would definitely be more convenient. The biggest problem is that everyone only wants the newest kits so old stock takes a while to sell. At one time I had over 350+ resin kits in stock. PLUS 100's of diecast, plastic kits and 1,000's of decals and detailing items. Do the math, do I really don't need $50-75K sitting in a store room. I always bring "extras" of everything in but most items end up sold out by the time they arrive. But I am trying to build a reserve of kits.

Why don't you answer my emails?
First of all, if I receive your email I answer it or at least I thought I did. Maybe not 20 seconds after it's sent or even that day but I answer all my emails. Despite rumors to the contrary I don't purposely not answer any emails. I receive 100's of emails a day. It's insanely time consuming. Despite the "myth" about email being absolutely reliable I know for a fact I don't receive every email. I went through three computers in two years so I'm sure many emails have fallen into a void.
If you have a simple question please call 845-878-4456. Leave a message if I don't answer. I'm sorry but there is nothing crazier than emailing me to ask if something is in stock. I answer that question and now I'm asked about another kit or when do I expect it. This would have been much much easier on the phone. If you are overseas emails are understandable.

Why don't you answer my phone calls?
You would be surprised how many phone messages are completely unintelligible. I even replaced my phone/answering machine thinking that was the trouble. Many cell phone calls are completely garbled. I can't pick up the numbers. I may resort to caller ID but I hate paying for something that should not be needed. Plus the phone companies make enough money already..I don't. So please read your number VERY slowly at least once. Twice would be better. Thanks!
